CERTIFIED PROFESSIONAL CODER (CPC)

CPC is a widely recognized medical coding certification for coders working in outpatient / physician-office / ambulatory care / outpatient claims settings.
It shows proficiency in standard code sets and coding rules — primarily ICD-10-CM, CPT, and HCPCS Level II.
This course is designed by American Academy of Professional Courses (AAPC)

CPC Exam Structure & Requirements

The exam consists of 100 multiple-choice questions.
Duration: 4 hours.
Passing Score: You must correctly answer at least 70% (i.e., 70 of 100).
Allowed Reference Materials: During the exam you are allowed to use the three standard code books — CPT (current year), ICD-10-CM, and HCPCS Level II (current or prior year).
Eligibility & Credentials:

You can take the exam without prior work experience. If you pass but do not yet have 2 years coding experience, you earn the CPC-A (CPC Apprentice) designation.
Once you have required experience (or meet alternative requirements as per AAPC rules), you can convert to full CPC certification.
